Taekwondo Australia & Sports Taekwondo Australia.
March 13th, 2012I would like to express my concern about the way Taekwondo is being run at present in Australia.
As everyone knows at the moment there are 2 organizations in Australia being T.A & S.T.A.
Both run competition’s and both have there own agenda, but STA are recognized by the World Taekwondo Federation and at this point in time I believe that nothing will change in the near future. It’s about time the board members of both organizations put aside there differences and start working together to get Taekwondo in Australia back to where it should be. I know like a lot of Instructors we are tired of all the fighting that is going on between these 2 parties and the only people they are harming are the students of the clubs. I really don’t think the students who go to tournaments care who runs them as long as they have people to compete with so it can bring our the best in them. This isn’t happening at the moment.
Also opening up our tournaments would mean more students and then the prices can be cheaper. At the moment the cost is studpid, $65 for Poomse and that’s only 1 on 1 or $115 for 2 events.
Why can’t both organizations when they run tournaments let ANY student enter regardless who they are members of. Just think how big these tournaments would be if they did this.
Also to be part of a National team you must belong to STA or otherwise I believe you cannot be part of it. If this is the case how can STA say the have the best competitors to represent Australia, when only half of the Taekwondo community are allowed to enter these competitions?
The only people these board members of both parties seem to be interested in at the moment are each other and they are forgetting the most IMPORTANT people the STUDENTS.
So to both parties I say this. If you want to play politics with each other that’s fine, but lets open our tournaments to ALL students, no matter who they belong to.
Remember, if it wasn’t for our students we wouldn’t have clubs so just remember that.
